Most and foremost keep it confidential.  Customers don’t need to know until its time.

Only inform key employees who will need to have employment contracts and wait to get them involved until the last steps in the process. If employees know too early it will be a distraction and de-motivator, something you do not need at that time. When the deal is done and about to close , then inform employees, “A need to know” is the key phrase.
